Reetha (Sapindus mukorossi) has common names including Soapberry andSoapnut, both name referring to the use of the crushed fruit and removed seeds to make Soap. The branches are alternate 15-40 centimeters (5.9-16 inches) long, pinnate with 14-30 leaflets, the terminal leaflet are often absent. The flowers form in large panicles, each flower is small and creamy white.
 
The fruit, called a soap nut, is a small leathery-skinned drupe 1-2 centimeters (0.39-0.79 inches) diameter, yellow ripening blackish, containing one seed. Soapberries are being considered for commercial use in cosmetics and detergents  among many other products. They are a very popular ingredient in Ayurvedic shampoos and cleansers.
 
They are used in Ayurvedic medicine as a treatment for eczema, psoriasis and for removing freckles. Soap nuts have gentle insecticidal properties and are traditionally used for removing lice from the scalp. It is prepared from dried fruits and is used to make hair shiny, remove dandruff and lice. It is also used in cleansing lotion, protein shampoo, and conditioner. It can be used for washing woolen cloths and jewelry cleaning.
